Abstract: In the developmental-cognitive approach to child’s socialization, Furth (1978) discussed self-concept, interpersonal relations and societal understanding as three equally important sides of child’s social development. Our study is also framed into the Van Raiij’s model of economic-psychological relationships. Our main problem is how are children’s perception of money (E/P) and their money behavior (B) dependent from economic environment (E). According to the Van Raiij’s model we could not directly compare E and B, because this relation is mediated by E/P. However, our sample was too small for such research design and the modification may give us another perspective of the problem. We believe that question of money is of general importance for child’s socialization and our hypothesis is according to that: "environment with more and stronger economic stimuli will accelerate social development of children, manifesting in more diversified and more complex perception of money and in more consuming oriented money behavior." Besides that, we included some notes on importance of general environment (GE) for money perception and behavior. In last four years when our data were collected, Yugoslavia had experienced severe economic difficulties. So, it was expected this should have greater effect in the environment with more and stronger economic stimuli.
